Well, I’m back from Hawaii, and glad to be back finishing up all my 2008 wedding packages before the holidays (!) I’ll do a little Hawaiian post soon, but to quickly summarize: the islands are truly isolated gardens of earthly delights, and I was pleased to find that Hawaiians have a decent food scene happening – but the architecture, not so much.
Now, for a long overdue wedding post! Amber and Jeff had a red and aqua school-themed wedding at the Brock House. The details were meticulously conceived and executed…little red felt birds on the cake, red books, school buttons, and place names in test tubes! Both Amber and Jeff have degrees in engineering, so the reception decor leaned toward the sciences. For portraits we headed out near the engineering side of the UBC campus with which I am completely unfamiliar, and used school themed apples, gravity and wind for portraits. We did all of this before the ceremony conducted by Rev. Brent Sheppard. Amber’s hair and makeup were done by Wedded Bliss, which is a fantastic team of two ladies who spiff you up wherever you happen to be getting ready, and give you a little kit of goodies to keep you looking spiffed all day. (I’ve thought of calling them myself, but I have few occasions for glamour, sadly.) Expert event planning assisting and wedding coaching by Kerry Reid of Fairy Godmother Weddings.
More explanation to come with the images:
I loved Amber’s veil of simple raw edged tulle. Wedded Bliss found a way to fasten it. No comb or anything. Here Amber considers the lifting logistics.

A tribute to William Tell AND Newton. Science. Gravity. Engineering.
Vitamin D. It just feels good.
Amber and Jeff had a Philippine cord and veil ceremony. Both grandmas are practicing here for their role in placing it over the couple. I’m sorry if I used Philippine incorrectly, but I looked it up, and apparently this form is adjectival, although I’m still wanting an ‘o’ on the end.

Successfully veiled and corded!
Matching drinks after the ceremony.
red and aqua details. I do love the colours together.
This was my first ever photobooth. Everyone seemed shocked in the photos and I don’t think I even told them. Amber’s attention to detail included bringing colour-coordinated props for the booth! Thank you Amber!
