jennifer & brent

I enjoyed shooting Jennifer and Brent and their friends for a number of reasons. First of all, I was in no way required to enliven the bridal party, but rather had the challenge of fitting them, the men especially, into a frame. The portrait session started off on rather a different note when once we arrived at the first location and after Jennifer had pinned a few flowers onto a few lapels, she cracked open a box of new runners and put them on under her satin Alvina Valenta gown. She is an expert runner and she obliged me with some with some action shots. I appreciated that Jennifer and Brent share an excellent sense of humour and were not afraid to let it show in their portraits. They are blessed with expressive (yet very attractive!) faces, and I’m pleased that the luv shots are tempered with the quirky!

After a quick trip to a certain fancy car dealership for a few shots with a favourite machine, we met at the Port Moody Civic Centre for family photos. The ceremony setup was inside the centre, in the Inlet Theatre, since rain had been threatening all morning. Although it is more difficult to shoot people on a stage in a dark theatre than it is to shoot outside, partly out of fear for becoming spot lit one’s self, the setting made for some dramatic black and whites. The reception was held in the main lobby of the Civic Centre which is floor to ceiling windows, out of which we spotted two rainbows! Jennifer and Brent came outside into the sun-rain for a last set of portraits and I was very glad. I love sun-rain.

Jennifer’s flowers were by Proline Trading in Burnaby, and her makeup was by Negar of Lip Gloss and Lashes. I may not have posted a close up of the makeup, but it was really lovely, I can attest.

This first pic shows Jennifer meeting Brent in her parents’ living room.
