Veronika & Steve

I first met Veronika and Steve about a year ago when Veronika and I were neophytes in what Steve’s friends refer to as ‘that illegal gym’ Crossfit Vancouver. I would stand in awe of Steve (aka ‘Manchild’—the really good people have code names) but Veronika and I were close in friendly competition for a few months until she left me in the dust—but for hanging on the chin-up bars…but for that. It was great to get to know them a little before the wedding so that we could intuit that they would appreciate a little action in their portrait shoot in addition to catching some pretty light in their bright eyes. The shot of Steve hoisting his bride on his shoulders, for example, is actually the top of a back squat sequence. The wheel barrow shots are after barreling down the highway—they are repose. Steve is unwinding before the ceremony by throwing one rock in the air and then exploding it mid air with a subsequent rock. Now for a small sampling of images:

I love the expressions and reactions from the head table!

Kudos to whomever made this incredible cake. THE best cake.

Favours were home made jams with the couple’s new address on the tag. I liked how the guests pitched in and put the tables away when it was time to dance.

Angela Hubbard as always, lovely picks. i use to go to crossfit too when they were on 2nd.

Jessie Great shots. It has the feel of a laidback, relaxed, homey (is that a word?) affair…And that cake looks really good. And I’d like to know what type of jam they had. But then, I perhaps have an uncommon interest in jam…

veronika It was homemade strawberry jam made by my husband’s aunt. If I knew the recipe i would surely share 🙂
