Emily & Andrew

Last August we packed our bags and headed to the Sunshine Coast for this fabulous wedding at the bride’s family home. We had been a couple of summers before to photograph her sister Katie’s wedding and loved it there. The groom’s side came all the way from England– lucky for them there was waterskiing the next morning and (I was surprised to see in Jules’s images) a gun! Jules had also cheekily photographed the groom’s outdoor shower on his wedding morning. Sometimes I see the shots he brings back from the morning with the guys and have some questions.

Cynthia & Kenneth

I’m so glad we had another sunny Vancouver weekend for Cynthia and Kenneth’s wedding– especially since they came all the way from Sydney Australia to be married at the Terminal City Club. Hair and makeup were by Nadia Albano. Cynthia wore her mother’s Kwa, the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen, for toasting at the reception.

Yuni & Jay

I was supposed to be in Hawai’i but it turns out I was here and able to fill in when another photographer was stuck. I’m so grateful for a wonderful facebook group that I belong to which is a fantastic resource for vancouver wedding photographers and second shooters, which is how I was put in contact with Yuni and Jay. And I’m so glad I was! I don’t usually shoot weddings in the winter but I’m happy to have met these two and to have spent a lovely (if very chilly and blustery) wedding day with them! Jules and I were touched that they even brought us breakfast for the shoot. Yuni and Jay were married at Newlands Golf and Country Club in Langley which has a large glass atrium which was absolutely perfect for a winter wedding. All the natural light, none of the cold or damp. Perfection.

nicole & matt engagement

A late summer engagement session. I remember sitting with Nicole and Matt in their downtown apartment with their many books and magazines about us and talking about how that location in particular would ‘date’ the images, in a good way. Images of their first home together, surrounded by what they were reading leading up to their wedding, and what was going on in the world outside of Vancouver and wedding details—the Euro crisis, Gadaffi’s last days and so forth, which would in turn remind them of how they once shared an address with an uncanny Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lookalike. Nature, too, shared with us its late summer evenings’ best– golden grasses and soft warm light.

Nicole & Adam

I think Nicole and I have seen one another at, oh, maybe ten or eleven weddings now over the last five years so we were so glad to be able to photograph her intimate winter wedding to Adam (whom she met at a fateful wedding in 2007 I was also photographing!) As Nicole finished getting ready in her upstairs room we heard Adam start to play on his guitar, which he did until she came out to meet him. They were married at dusk with a small group of family and friends in attendance, around a bonfire. Pretty lovely.
